Youth Engagement

The African Descent Youth Engagement Society aims to foster change and empowerment of youth of African Descent capacity-building initiatives through community engagement opportunities to represent the voices of Youth of African Descent in the community to promote equal opportunities, equity, and justice for all. ADYES aims to influence change for a great deal of youth disproportionate barriers within social, economic, civic, and public systems that affect many Young African Descents, indigenous youth, refugees, immigrants, and newcomers youth face barriers compared to many young people in Canada and beyond. The African Descent Youth engagement empowers youth. The program engages youth using various strategies including TED talks and talent developments, live music, songwriting and peer group discussion, and the African Descent Youth Summit plus so many various programs.

Everyone deserves equal opportunity to start support to start and meaningful participation in the community. The African Descent Youth always missing in many communities’ engagement opportunities due to racial discrimination and lack of equal opportunities. The African Descent Youth Engagement Society aims to bridge this gap by eliminating and minimizing the barriers faced by Youth of African Descent to help them grow responsible personal growth and contribute to the development of their community. The program aims to unlock the potential of all young people to make sure that all Youth of African Descent creates opportunities to thrive as responsible contributors to the growth of their lives and that of their communities. We create conversation on topics helping the youth to participate meaningfully in their community and growth as responsible citizens in the community. Our strategies leverage the partnerships and collaborative model of knowledge and expertise and knowledge mobilization of our team and staff members as well as community networking. We create authentic conversations on difficult topics and create a space for every youth-especially vulnerable group of African Descent. We aim to engage youth to study and research history making sure young people of African Descent are active members and participants in the history and culture of their community by making important decisions. African Descent Youth Engagement aims to build capacity for the youth of African Descent to engage in policy development and leadership training to empower the youth as new generation policy change leaders through leadership and advocacy training. ADYES aims to mobilize and establish strong civic engagement for grassroots youth groups of African Descent to respond to and advocate the needs of youth and issues affecting them through partnerships and building alliances with public funders and sponsors to support the youth of African Descent and remove barriers affecting them by increasing access to funding, civic engagements, community mobilization for system change.
